This evening in Paris we went to two art exhibitions. The first was an amazing collection of collodion wet plate photographs at the Rose Bakery, which is an actual bakery/ cafe during the day. The second was a book signing for Fafi's (pictured above, second from the right) book The Carmine Vault, which doubled as an exhibition for a selection of her original artwork on display inside Ofr. A brilliant bookshop/ gallery space.
Here's how the night unfolded...
The evening started with a Paris half moon.
Some illegal street art happening outside Subway. It was intriguing to watch.
Front of the Rose Bakery where the photographic exhibition took place.
"We Are Not Just Waiters"
can be seen at the Rose Bakery until the 23rd of Decmeber
These photos do no justice to the original, so be sure to check out his website at the bottom of this page.
A jazz band started playing in the kitchen of the bakery. It was such a big sound for this tiny venue, but it really added to the atmosphere. Just another enjoyable thing about this exhibition.
That is the artist Honza Hronek second from the right enjoying the jazz.
Sophie trying some Paris goon (cask wine) Verdict: Goon is the same in Paris as it is in Perth.
Video projection showing the technique used to create the glass plate photos.
The vintage camera used to take the photos.
The front room of The Rose Bakery. I'd definitely love to come and enjoy a tea here sometime.
On our way to the next exhibition... Which we actually stumbled upon per chance.
Someone wrote "CUT THE HEAD, SELL IT" on this shop front window, which pretty much seemed the store motto anyways. There were so many wall mounted, bodiless creatures for sale.
On the way to Ofr gallery.
The crowd outside Ofr. for the Fafi book signing.
Sophie browsing this super neat shop.
These were the original Fafi drawings for sale.
How much it costs to own an original Fafi drawing. 350€-2500€
Some of Fafi's original artwork on display inside the store.
Ofr. was a wonderland of graphics, art and an assortment of interesting and beautiful books.
Fafi outside casually enojoying some wine and signing her book for a fan (which she was signing with original artwork. AMAZING!)
A church outside Ofr.
Catching the train back home.
